Our second interview is with Holly from Hollyrose Aromatherapy

Please tell us a little about Hollyrose Aromatherapy.
Hollyrose Aromatherapy is located in beautiful New Hampshire.
I offer a large variety of handmade aromatherapy & fragranced
bath and body products all made fresh to order.
2. When
did you decide to start your own business?
Let's see I decided to give my business
a go about 3 years ago. One Christmas I decided to make massage oils
with essential oils as gifts and I never stopped after that learning
and making new products
3. Why did you decide to start an aromatherapy business?
I love to experiment and create things and am intrigued about the
benefits of aromatherapy. Hollyrose Aromatherapy is based on using pure
aromatherapy essential oils but I also have a large selection of
fragrances too
4. What is your favorite product that you sell?
Hmm...my favorite product would have to be my Whipped Shea &
Emu body butter. There are no added preservatives or chemicals and the
emu oil helps to absorb the body butter quickly into the skin. Emu oil
also has many great properties such as anti-aging,muscle
rubs,eczema,sunburns and more. I use this product everyday!
5. What are your three most popular products?
1. Shea & Emu Body Butter
2. Tub Truffles
3. Shea Butter Soaps
6. Do you have a hidden gem - a product that isn’t getting
the recognition that you think it deserves? Please tell us why everyone
needs to know about (and use) this product.
My hidden gem would have to be my Emu Massage oil. This is not just a
regular massage oil. It is made with a blend of Emu and grapeseed oils.
The Emu oil is the hidden gem because you can use this to help heal
sprains & strains 50% faster with massage. Also your skin won't
feel as greasy after using this because emu oil absorbs faster. Don't
forget you can add 1-2 tablespoons to your bath to, for a nice
moisturizing, and soothing bath.
7. Where do you find the inspirations for your scent blends, and
products?
My aromatherapy blends I researched blending essential oils and
experimented them for myself/family & friends. I like to create
products that I too would like to use and get excited about using them.
8. What are your favorite products from all lines?
Well my favorite product as I mentioned was the body butter but the
lotion is wonderful too and not as heavy as a body butter. As for
scents, my favorite is my Aromatherapy Blend with the second being Warm
Lavender. The tub truffles are awesome too. Tub truffles are like a
moisturizing bath bomb that fizzs in the tub. The difference between a
bath bomb and the tub truffle is that the truffle is more moisturizing
as it is made with mostly cocoa butter.
9. What advice would you give to someone who is interested in
purchasing your products, but has never ordered online, or is scared
about ordering something they can’t smell, or see?
My advice would be to browse my site and read all the product/scent
descriptions. I know you can't get a sense of a scent online but you
can always order my 1 ounce sizes in lotions or massage oils to test
out a scent that you are not sure of. I am always willing to send you
samples of a particular product too at a small price. I acccept credit
cards through paypal(you don't have to have an account with paypal to
use your credit card),also personal checks and money orders. My site
uses a secure payment processor. I also offer wholesale and private
label, if you are interested I can email a price list.
10. Are there any websites that you visit daily? If so, why?
I visit http://www.lemmingcentral.com daily because this is where a
large number of bath & body etailers are as well as bath and
body junkies! I also visit other forums and I do research almost daily
about different products and scents.
11. Is there anything else that we should know about you, your
business, your products, or your industry?
The biggest thing about Hollyrose Aromatherapy is that all products are
made fresh to order only. I don't make any products before hand so you
know that you are always getting the freshest products available. You
don't have to worry about ordering elsewhere, where products are
sitting on shelves for months at a time. Also If you are looking for a
particular scent please let me know and I can make any of my products
with your favorite scent.
12. Is there anything you wished you knew before you started your business?
I wish I wasn't as impatient at first trying to start my
business, thinking that it would kick off right away. I now realize I
have to be patient and that businesses don't just start overnight!

What advice that you would like to give to people who want to start
their own business?
It is very hard work but also very fufilling. You have to advertise and
market your products daily, so you really don't have a day off. Find
something that you are passionate about and your business won't feel
like work but your hobby.
14. And
finally - how would you create the perfect at home spa experience?
A nice warm bath using my calming bath
salts,tub truffles or bath/massage oil in your tub,lighted candles,a
few spritzes of body&room spray in the room! Next would be
relax in the tub and inhale the aromatherapy scents and maybe exfoliate
your skin with a salt scrub or sugar body polish. After your bath use
my Whipped shea & emu body butter or Emu Lotion with a few
spritzes of your favorite body spray. You should now be relaxed and
feel like you just visited the spa but you didn't have to leave home!
