Breast Cancer Awareness Makeup Brush Holder

Filed under: Makeup, Sarah's Surprises — Sarah @ 8:12 am

Isn’t this Breast Cancer Awareness Makeup Brush Holder, $10 from The Giving Tree adorable?

And to think, it even comes with makeup brushes!

I love the pink ribbon that’s used to tie it, isn’t it pretty?

You can’t see it in this picture, but the back of the brush holder is yellow and pink with pink ribbons.

Top 10 Halloween Etailer Goodies - 2008

Filed under: Bath and Body, Candles and Tarts, Jewelry, Makeup, Sarah's Surprises — Sarah @ 4:32 pm

It’s almost Halloween!

Are you ready?

Ok, I know it’s a little early, but with so many etailers around who make items to order I decided to go ahead and put the list up now to ensure that you get your orders before Halloween.

And here they are in no particular order.

Enjoy!

  • 10. There’s nothing like the perfect scent to get you in the mood for a spooky evening. Crater Lake Company’s Bath Cloud in Gal Friday the 13th, $7.95 for 5 oz is the perfect scent to add a little fear to your life. Just imagine relaxing in a nice warm bath or shower, thinking about Gal Friday the 13. Is she the one responsible for your copier troubles? And why do you think the scent of apricot jam puffs is so prevalant in the office - but only on Fridays?

Gal Friday the 13 scent description:

“(Another CLC Creation) Scary Movies Collection: Scent-nopsis - Workers had a way of disappearing at the law offices of Death, Torment & Despair. Good thing the new gal didn’t know about the 12 who preceeded her. Gal #13 met her untimely death when she tried to clear a paper jam in the copy machine. Now legend has it that on certain Fridays she haunts the hallways of the office and all copy equipment go berserk. Why do they think it’s her? Because she was known for treating her co-workers to her homemade apricot jam puffs and on those haunting Fridays, the aroma of this delicious, warm treat would waft down the hallways. The Cast: warm apricot jam, sugar syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar all entombed in a heart-attack inducing buttery phyllo wrap. “

  • 9. Evening Eclipses Hallow’s Eve Collection will get your house smelling spooky.

The collection includes 4 tealights ($8.99) or 4 votives ($9.99) and a holder in 4 different scents, inluding Carved Pumpkin, Dark Treats™, Harvest Moon, Nightmare™.

I think I’d try Dark Treats first:

“This delectable scent is filled with all the goodies you loved as a child — chocolate bars, candy corn, and caramel apples are greedily stuffed into every candle. “

    Which would you try?

  • 8. What’s Halloween without guests? Show your guests that you pay attention to the tiniest details by placing Dark Desert Scents Coffin Soap Bars,$1.75 per bar, in the sink. With so many scents to choose from, you can’t go wrong.
  • 7. If Halloween is getting to be a little too scary for you lighten up a little with Isle of Eden’s Cotton Candy Zombie Sugar Scrub, $26 for 1 lb 4 oz.

Enough sugar to wake the dead! Layers of: Chokecherry Cotton Candy, Blood Orange Cotton Candy, Watermelon Cotton Candy, Lime Cotton Candy, and Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy

  • 6. What’s Halloween without bobbing for apples?

The Dark Temptaions Dooking 2008 Halloween Perfume blend, $14 for 5 ml, will remind you of those school sponsored Halloween games.

“Happy Halloween! Let’s play a game; are you ready to test you skills? It’s quite simple really. First, we’ll just tie your hands behind your back to keep them out of the way, no need to be nervous… it’s all in jest. Now you just need to use your teeth to remove one of those shiny red apples from this basin of murky water. Uh, Uh, careful now, you don’t want to fall in… and lose. Now who wants to go first?

Red and green apples, drizzled in caramel and brown sugar; crisp, sweet and sticky, how can you resist sinking your teeth in?”

    Doesn’t that make you hungry?

  • 5. If spooky isn’t your style, and Halloween costumes aren’t for you then Dismissie Mixed Bag’s Halloween Past Bracelet, $13, might help get you in the holiday mood.
  • 4. Show everyone everyone how much you love Halloween with this adorable Trick or Treat candle, $7.99 from Sweet Innoscents-Homemade “dessert” Candles.

2-wick Mini-Loaf Candle with the sweetest scent of Buttercream & Candy Corn, together in one candle. This candle has been topped off with Buttercream Icing and the cutest lil’ Pumpkin, Candy Corn and a Ghost(all wax, of course!) ALL candles will come to you individually wrapped in a clear package with a matching ribbon/bow, along with a blank gift tag, perfect for gift giving!

  • 3. Ghosts are always on the must invite list for Halloween.

These adorable ghost tarts, $4.95, will be there when you need them - and then they’ll slowly melt away. They’re scented in All Hallows Eve:

A spicy mulled grapefruit type with a fruity citrus orange-grapefruit top-note, a cinnamon leaf, spicy middle-note and a soft musky, sweet vanilla base-note.

  • 2. What’s Halloween without makeup? If you’re going for a clown look Pink Quartz Minerals Halloween Makeup White Base, $7, should be on your list.

  • 1. If Halloween is a time to give gifts then check out the Pumpkin Themed Gift Set, $15.99.

The gift set is a collaboration between Doctor Sweet Tooth and Nini’s Handmade,. Isn’t it adorable?

  • Which of these etailer goodies would you like to try most?

Mine’s a toss up between Isle of Eden’s Zombie scrub - I love cotton candy scents, and the Halloween Past bracelet.

It’s so adorable, and I haven’t seen anything like that before today!

Leave a comment and let me know which goodies you’d like to try the most.

    Ahh, the ocean!

Filed under: Makeup, Sarah's Surprises — Sarah @ 12:29 pm

I miss the ocean - as much as people seem to think going to a lake is the same, for me it isn’t.

I miss the waves crashing on the shore, the tiny shells and critters crawling around - and seeing my sister running away from a bunch of tiny crabs that were chasing her on the shore at Myrtle Beach.

I miss being able to walk around and look for sea shells and jellyfish, and getting grossed out when seaweed wraps around my toes while I’m neck deep in salt water.

I miss being able to look out across the vast expanse of the ocean before me, and having a faint, yet still realistic, hope of seeing a dolphin or a shark.

Lakes just can’t compare to that.

This weeks theme is the ocean!

I’ll start out by sharing the J. Lynne Coastline Collection Plush Velvet Eyeshadow Collection, $8 for a full size jar, $1.25 for a sample jar, or $15 for the sample set.

Dolphin, Tide, Fog and Horizon (pictured) are my favorite colors from this matte eyeshadow collection.

    What are yours?

What do you miss about the ocean when you aren’t there?

    Bellissima Trucco Minerale Review

Filed under: Makeup, Reviews — Sarah @ 12:41 pm

Bellissima Trucco Minerale EyeshadowI received several products from Bellisima Trucoo Minerale to review about two weeks ago, and I’ve really put them through the ringer.

I’ve spent several days gardening outside in hot weather, and I was caught in a rainstorm.

Through it all these minerals have held up!

I have to say that it was nice to be out in the rain without having to worry about my makeup sliding down my face.

    Bellissima Trucco Minerale Eyeshadow Review

I’m in love with the Belissima Trucco Key West Palm eyeshadow, its my favorite color - a “blue-green shade with gold undertones and a shimmer finish.”

Since I loved Key West Palm as soon as I saw it, I had to try it first.

I decided to use the Aruba Sugar Cane as a base, and apply Key West Palm in the crease.

I was shocked at how smooth Key West Palm was when I applied it over the Aruba Sugar Cane.

I guess I don’t notice how smoothly shadow applies usually, but this was unusually smooth, even though I was using my normal eyshadow brush - a MAC 239SE.

All of the eyeshadows that I tried, Aruba Sugar Cane, Bali Lagoon, Bimini Bay, Key West Palm, Kona Coffee, and Montserrat Midnight, applied easily, and lasted throughout the day with no creasing.

Bellissima Trucco Minerale Foundation and Mineral Veil Review

I picked the Bellissima Trucco Minerale Foundation in Light, and the foundation is a perfect match for my skin tone, although if I do get a bit of a tan I’ll need a slightly darker color.

The foundation lasted throughout the sweaty gardening days, and the rainstorm with no problems. I also didn’t experience any breakouts or irritation with the foundation.

The foundation can be applied very sheerly with a brush, but the coverage can also be built up with a flocked sponge, or a concealor or foundation brush if you’d like more coverage.

The matte mineral veil worked very well, although I don’t need to use it with the Bellisima foundation - with most other mineral makeups I do need a need a mineral veil to absorb oil, so it’s nice not to need to take that extra step in the morning.

Bellissima Trucco Minerale Blush and Bronzer Review

I tried the blush in Baja Sunset, and Catalina Sunrise.

Both are beautiful colors that looked great on my fair skin.

I was a little hesitant to try the Catalina Sunrise, a “rich mauve shade with gold and blue undertones” because it was listed as being great for medium or darker skin tones, but it looks great on my pale skin.

Some days I even prefer it to the Baja Sunset, a “rich, pink shade with gold and mauve undertones” that is “perfect for light or medium skin tones.”

Both blushes are beautiful on, apply without streaking, and last.

I also tried the Jamaican Rum Bronzer, which looks dark - when my husband saw it he said “That doesn’t look like something you’d wear,” but with a light touch it gives a great glow to my skin.

    Bellissima Trucco Minerale Review

Bellissima Trucco Minerale packagingAll of my Bellissima Trucco Minerales were in good condition, and were beautifully packaged when I received them.

I loved that they took the time and attention to make the minerals look so good when they arrived.

I especially loved the little black bags on the full sized product - doesn’t it feel elegant?

Each full sized product came in a jar with a sifter top to contain the minerals. The shadow had a sifter with 5 holes, and a piece of clear plastic over the holes, while the blush, bronzer, and foundation had a heavier piece of white paper covering the six or so holes in the sifter.

You’re supposed to take the paper off to open the holes so you can get to the minerals, but I prefer to leave the paper on, and poke holes in a few of the premade holes, so the minerals don’t go flying everywhere when I use them. This also helps you not to have more minerals in the top of the jar than in the bottom if you carry your minerals in your purse, or if you travel with them.

The jars have Bellissima Trucco Minerale on the top and bottom of the lid. They also have the type of product (blush, shadow, etc) the name of the color, weight, ingredients, and the website on the bottom of the lid.

The sample bags also have the same information as the jars do, which I love!

I think it’s very important for etailers to have their name and website on their products, so that people will know what product they’re using, and so they’ll know where to reorder when it’s time to reorder or pick up a few new minerals.

I hate forgetting who made my minerals and not knowing where to reorder!

Overall I was very pleased with Bellisima Trucco Minerale, and I was very impressed with the presentation - it probably also helps that I love purple and black :-).

It’s nice to know that I can turn to this makeup when I want to look good while I’m working in the garden, or if there’s a chance of rain.

Bellissima Trucco Minerales can be bought at Bellissima Trucco Minerale, and at
Blonndie’s Bargains - an Ebay Store.

If you’ve tried them I’d love to hear what you think, so leave a comment and tell us about your experience.
