Last Day for Comment 4 A Cure

Filed under: Info & Updates — Sarah @ 10:28 am

It’s the last day for Comments 4 A Cure - if you want to make a difference, and if you support Breast Cancer Awareness leave a comment before midnight and I’ll donate $1 per comment to the Susan G Komen Foundation.

So far we’ve got $4 - and i know we can do better than that.

Today is the also the last day to enter the Breast Cancer Awareness Giveaway.

I would really like to thank all of the etailers who’ve allowed me to feature their Breast Cancer Awareness items this month!

I’d especially like to thank Mixology Makeup and Peachy Pendants for donating items for the giveaways.

It really is amazing for me to look through all the beautiful things that were created to help support Breast Cancer Awareness - and then to realize how many more things there are that I don’t know about, or weren’t featured because they didn’t fit in with the theme of the blog.

It’s great to see so many strangers come together for a common cause, and even though we may only be a small piece of the solution, at least we are a part of the solution.

Thank you for being part of the solution with me.

Water Goddess Necklace

Filed under: Jewelry, Sarah's Surprises — Sarah @ 9:43 am

And from one Liv’n Good Jewelry we have a beautiful Water Goddess Necklace.

I love the way you can just see the water goddess on the pendant.

Through the end of October 50% of the price of any item sold from Liv’n Good Jewelry’s Jewelry for the Cure Section will be donated to the Susan G Komen Foundation supporting breast cancer research and education.

And remember, for every comment you leave on the blog through October 30, I’ll be donating $1 to the Susan G Komen foundation.

All you have to do is leave a comment - but I’m not going to do it without you - if no one leaves a comment, then I’m not donating any money :-).

Tatted Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon - and Comments 4 A Cure

Filed under: Jewelry — Sarah @ 6:47 am

I thought it was only fitting to start Comments 4 A Cure with a Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon, and this Tatted Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon, $4 from Keena’s Kreations, is beautiful and unique.

All proceeds from the sale of this ribbon will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, which coincidentally is who the proceeds for Comments 4 A Cure will go to.

If you’re not familiar with Comments 4 A Cure, participating blogs in the Beauty Blog Network pick 3 days, and for each comment that is left on the blog during those days, money will be donated to a cancer charity.

Sarah’s Surprises is participating from October 28-October 30 - so leave a comment if you’d like to raise money to help find a cure for breast cancer, or if breast cancer Awareness is important to you.

For each comment that is left on the blog, I’ll be donating $1 to the Susan G Komen foundation, with a max of $50.

Keena, from Keena’s creations shares why Breast Cancer Awareness is important to her:

My step-mother was a wonderful woman. She had a wonderful smile and an amazing sense of humor, which she kept all through her chemo treatments. I got to see her only a few times a year when I went to visit my father. On the last visit, she taught me to crochet. This skill has been a big part of my life ever since. Shortly after I went home from this visit, she lost her battle with breast cancer. Every time I pick up my hook, I think of her. She was so quirky and funny and one of the best things to have happened in mine and my father’s lives. I think of her all year long, but Breast Cancer Awareness month always makes me want to do a little something extra in her honor. I feel that breast cancer awareness is so imporant because I know what it’s like to be a child and lose someone who means so much to you. No matter how old you are, it’s always difficult to lose someone you love and you never forget it. I feel it’s important for everyone who has known someone who has been affected by breast cancer, whether they triumphed or not, to do a little something to help in the fight against this disease.

Keena didn’t know that I was going to be starting Comments 4 A Cure with her message ( I didn’t know until I sat down to post this) but her message is fitting - if you want to do a little something to help the fight all you have to do is leave a comment.

It’s that easy.

Pink October Pink Heart Tile Wall Hanging

Isn’t this Pink October Handmade Pink Heart Tile Wall Hanging, $15 from Mary Richmond Tile adorable?

Mary says:

As a breast cancer survivor who found my cancer early I feel very strongly that women need to be aware and not afraid.

There’s a lot of controversary around the causes, prevention, detection and cures for breast cancer but I think each woman needs to find her own comfort level and deal with it early and thoroughly as best they can.

I believe in education and action.

Too many women are afraid and don’t go to the doctor until the cancer is big and advanced and they can’t ignore it any more.

I very recently lost a friend to this disease and yet another has been told she may only have weeks to live since her cancer has returned and spread everywhere.

I am donating 100% of my pink October items to the support group that I went to after my mastectomy and treatment in the name of my friend, also a member, who lost her battle this September.

So many women are surviving breast cancer today.

I encourage all women to be proactive about their health, especially their breast health.
