Valente Lane Candles Review

Filed under: Candles and Tarts, Reviews — Sarah @ 9:03 pm

I recently recieved some candles from Valente Lane Candles to review, and I am really impressed.

I recieved a stern :-) reminder from Charlena, the owner of Valente Lane Candles to trim my wicks to 1/4 inch so the candles wouldn’t smoke, and not to blow out the candles until they had pooled all the way to the sides of the jar so the candles wouldn’t form a hole in the wax.

I chose the Pretty in Pink Candle in Palm Wax, and the Breakfast in Italy Candle in mottled wax.

When I recieved the candles, I was really impressed with how strongly they smelled, even while they were in the box! I later found out that it was the Pretty In Pink that smelled so strongly.

The Breakfast in Italy candle came in a beautiful, round 8 oz Metro jar, with a green and clear Valente Lane Candles label on the top, and a Breakfast in Italy label on the side.

The sticker was positoned so that you could turn the label away from the wall if you were interested in doing that :-)

I did like that the name of the fragrance was on the candle - I don’t think that I’ll manage to keep this candle around for so long that I forget what scent it is, but there are some candles that I do keep around that long, and it’s annoying not to know which scent they are when I want to replace them.

Burning instructions along with the size, burn time, Valente Lane Candles web address and phone number (always very important) were on the bottom of the jar.

The fragrance description for Breakfast in Italy says

“Burn this candle and be swept away to Italy…with a mood so serene, touched by the aromas of freshly baked biscotti and just-brewed coffee…a picturesue moment! (medium scent) “

The candle, of course, was brown, and it has a light sweet scent.  I was very happy when I was burning the candle on my desk.

Breakfast in Italy could be smelled in the den and downstairs while I was burning it, and the smell lingered for a while after I put it out.

I did notice that the mottled wax did seem to burn faster than the Palm wax did, and that the melt pool was larger, but this might have been due to the fact that the candles were in different jars as well.

The Pretty in Pink Candle came in the 9 oz Balmoral Jar, which is absolutely beautiful with the hot pink palm wax. There was a label with Valente Lane Candles and Pretty in Pink on the top of the lid, and a warning label on the bottom.

The scent description says:

”Cotton Candy mixed with citrus & a tish of musk makes you think of things oooooooh so sweet, pretty & scrumptious all rolled up into one. It is absolutley irresitable. This became my favorite when I tried it!!! (scent is very strong) “

I chose the palm wax because of Charlena’s post about how much she loves  palm wax.

The wax is beautiful, and it does look like crystals.

I could definitely smell the musk in the candle, and oddly enough, it smelled the strongest when the candle wasn’t burning.

Beware that this is a strong scent, and if you don’t want to smell the candle, you better keep the lid on it.

Pretty in Pink is strong enough to have a decent fragrance even when it isn’t lit.

I knew that this scent was going to have to stay away from my desk because it would be too strong for me if I burnt it there, so I burnt it in the kitchen, at the other end of the house.

The fragrance filled the house, and the candle smelled more like cotton candy than it did when it wasn’t lit.  I blew out the candle around 2:30, and after a dinner out, the fragrance was still noticeable when I returned home around 9:00!

Now that’s a strong candle.

Over all I was very impressed with the fragrance of the candle, the scent throw, and the appearance of the candles!

If you’d like to try Valente Lane Candles you can visit them at Valente Lane Candles.

Be sure to check out their Candle of the Month, Pineapple and Cilantro, which is 15% off this month.

Doesn’t that sound intriguing?
